If you’ve spent any time researching MSC Cruises, you’ve probably come across something called MSC Yacht Club.
Some people describe it as a “ship within a ship.” Others compare it to luxury cruising. And many first-time MSC cruisers wonder whether it’s actually worth paying more.
After sailing in Yacht Club myself, I understand why it has such a loyal following.
MSC offers several different booking experiences, but Yacht Club changes the vacation considerably. It combines the restaurants, entertainment, and activities of a large MSC ship with a much smaller, more private experience centered around personalized service.
In this guide, I’ll explain exactly what MSC Yacht Club is, what’s included, who it’s best suited for, and whether it’s the right choice for your vacation.

What Is MSC Yacht Club?
MSC Yacht Club is an exclusive section found on most MSC ships. Previously, it was available across the World, Seaside, Meraviglia, and Fantasia classes. Starting in 2026, MSC has also begun retrofitting and rolling out Yacht Club across its four Musica-class ships.
Think of Yacht Club as a private luxury hotel located inside a much larger cruise ship.
You still have access to everything the ship offers—restaurants, theaters, pools, entertainment, shopping, and activities—but you also enjoy exclusive spaces and services reserved only for Yacht Club guests.
These include:
• Private Yacht Club Restaurant
• Private Top Sail Lounge
• Private sundeck with a whirlpool and/or pool, plus outdoor dining and bar service
• Premium suites
• Butler service
• Concierge team
You can enjoy the excitement of a large cruise ship whenever you want—and retreat to a much quieter environment whenever you’re ready.
What Is Included?
One of Yacht Club’s biggest advantages is how much is already included in your cruise fare.
Personalized Butler Service
Every suite includes dedicated butler service throughout your cruise.
Your butler can assist with:
Luggage
Spa and specialty dining reservations
Priority embarkation and disembarkation, including at ports during your sailing
Room service delivery
Special requests, such as minibar preferences or in-room decorations for a birthday or anniversary
Escorts to shows and activities around the ship
It’s attentive service without feeling intrusive.
Concierge Service
The Yacht Club concierge team can handle specialty restaurant reservations, excursion questions, onboard assistance, and just about anything else you may need during your cruise.
If you encounter an issue that would normally require a visit to Guest Services, there’s no need to wait in a long line. Your Yacht Club concierge can typically take care of it for you.
Private Yacht Club Restaurant
For many Yacht Club guests, the restaurant becomes one of their favorite parts of the cruise.
Unlike the main dining rooms, you’ll enjoy:
No fixed dining times or reservations required. Sit-down breakfast, lunch, and dinner are available during the restaurant’s operating hours.
Exceptional service from the maître d’ and waitstaff. The staff works as a team, quickly learning your preferences and often anticipating your requests.
A relaxed atmosphere. Despite the elevated dining experience, it doesn’t feel stuffy—just comfortable, attentive, and enjoyable.
High-quality cuisine. Lunch and dinner feature multiple selections from menus that rotate daily.

One of the things I’ve appreciated most about Yacht Club is how genuinely accommodating the restaurant staff can be. If there’s something you’d like that isn’t on the menu, talk with the maître d’. When possible—especially with advance notice—they’ll often try to make it happen.
Private Top Sail Lounge
The Top Sail Lounge is one of my favorite places onboard. You can enjoy sweeping views while sipping a premium cocktail, specialty coffee, mocktail, or just about anything in between.
The atmosphere is more relaxing sanctuary than lively bar, although there are plenty of larger seating areas where groups can socialize. Rotating musicians also provide entertainment during the late afternoon and evening hours.
Snacks are available throughout the day, although the format varies by ship.
On the original Yacht Club ships in the Seaside, Meraviglia, and Fantasia classes, you’ll typically find a self-service buffet featuring a rotating selection of small bites throughout the day.
On World Class and the newly retrofitted Musica-class ships, this has changed to a menu-based format. Nuts and chips are available from your server, while sandwiches, salads, desserts, and other items can be ordered depending on the time of day.
Regardless of the format, finding something to eat is rarely the problem. The bigger challenge may be deciding what to choose.
Exclusive Sun Deck
The Yacht Club sundeck typically features:
Dedicated pool on most ships
Hot tub or whirlpool
Plenty of loungers and plush towels
Premium bar service
Breakfast and lunch offerings, including made-to-order selections
A much quieter atmosphere than the ship's main pool decks
Dining arrangements vary by ship. World Class ships, for example, feature a menu-based offering rather than the traditional buffet format.
From My Experience: I've never felt the need to rush out early to claim a lounger in Yacht Club. Even on busy sea days, I've been able to find somewhere comfortable to relax.
Premium Beverage Package
Yacht Club currently includes MSC’s Premium Extra beverage package, covering alcoholic beverages up to $16, along with specialty coffee, mocktails, fresh juices, smoothies, soda, bottled water, and more.
The package can be used both inside Yacht Club and throughout the rest of the ship, as well as on MSC’s private island when it’s included in your itinerary.
If you choose a higher-end liquor or other beverage priced above the $16 threshold, you pay only the difference in price.
Children sailing in Yacht Club are also covered by the appropriate non-alcoholic beverage benefits.
Here is a sampling of their menu, but this is not an exclusive list of offerings. If they have the ingredients, they will happily make it for you.
Stocked Minibar and 24-Hour Room Service
Your beverage benefits follow you into your stateroom.
Your minibar comes pre-stocked with an assortment of sodas, water, beer, juices, and iced tea. If there are items you don’t particularly enjoy, you can ask your butler to remove them and replace them with more of what you prefer.
You’ll also receive still and sparkling water, along with a complimentary bottle of spirits of your choice. Minibar beverages and water are replenished daily.
You’ll typically find a few snacks as well, including chips, nuts, and a Toblerone bar. Unlike the beverages, these are generally provided only once.
A rotating selection of treats, along with Venchi chocolates, may also be left in your stateroom in the evening.
If you’re still craving a snack—or you’d simply like to enjoy breakfast on your balcony—room service is available. For breakfast, complete the breakfast card and hang it outside your door the night before, generally by 2 a.m.
Room service also includes complimentary delivery of drinks available through the premium beverage package.
Note - Prices Listed on Mini Bar Menu are only if you are requesting items beyond the first round of complimentary snacks and bottle of alcohol. The alcohol listed are your selections for the free bottle at embarkation.

You aren’t necessarily limited to the items printed on the breakfast card. If there’s something from the main Yacht Club breakfast menu you prefer, try writing it in.
And don’t miss the pizza delivery to your stateroom. MSC has some of my favorite cruise ship pizza, and it’s available for room service from 12 p.m. to 12 a.m.
Wi-Fi Included
Each Yacht Club guest currently receives Browse Wi-Fi for two devices.

If you want to stream, consider waiting until you’re onboard to upgrade your internet plan. On a recent seven-night sailing, upgrading both devices to the streaming plan cost approximately $25. The upgrade can be selected during your initial internet setup.
Thermal Spa and Solarium
MSC offers a thermal spa experience onboard its ships. Amenities vary by vessel but may include different sauna experiences, steam rooms, salt rooms, snow rooms, hydrotherapy pools or whirlpools, and experience showers.
The thermal area is designed for relaxation, is capacity-controlled, and is reserved for adults ages 18 and older. While other passengers can purchase a thermal pass, access is complimentary for Aurea and Yacht Club guests.
The MSC Aurea Solarium is another amenity available to Aurea and Yacht Club guests. Typically located on one of the ship’s higher decks, this additional outdoor space offers sun loungers and, on some ships, additional whirlpools. Exact amenities and locations vary by ship.
Priority Embarkation and Disembarkation
This may sound like a small perk—until you experience it.
Dedicated luggage drop-off and check-in, priority boarding, and expedited departure can save significant time and help your vacation start and end much more smoothly.
You’ll also enjoy priority assistance during port stops, with your butler helping you disembark in a timely manner when needed.

When arriving at the cruise terminal for embarkation, look for the blue Yacht Club tents. You’ll find a dedicated Yacht Club luggage drop-off area and arrival tent. From there, you’ll be personally escorted through security and check-in before being escorted onto the ship.
Yacht Club Benefits at Ocean Cay
If your itinerary includes a stop at Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, your Yacht Club benefits extend onto the island.
A dedicated tram transports Yacht Club guests from the island entrance to Ocean House Beach, a private beach reserved exclusively for Yacht Club guests. You’ll find plenty of plush towels and loungers, while butlers are available for drink service throughout the day.
The Ocean House Restaurant and bar also offer an exclusive lunch experience for Yacht Club guests.

What Are MSC Yacht Club Staterooms Like?
Yacht Club staterooms are elevated from the typical MSC cabin and feel more like rooms in a higher-end modern hotel.
While accommodations vary by ship and category, many feature a king-size bed with a plush memory-foam mattress, a pillow menu, Italian bedding, marble-floored bathrooms, a Nespresso machine, large flat-panel TV, and, of course, the complimentary minibar.
Each ship typically offers several categories of Yacht Club accommodations, often beginning with an interior stateroom. One of the most common options is the Deluxe Balcony Suite.
Deluxe Balcony Suites average around 270 square feet and feature a sitting area—some with sleeper sofas capable of accommodating two additional guests—along with a balcony averaging approximately 86 square feet.
For travelers looking for additional space, Duplex Suites are available on select Meraviglia and World Class ships. These feature a two-story configuration with separate bedroom and living areas, an additional bathroom, and an expanded balcony with a private whirlpool.
At the higher end are the Royal and Owner’s Suite categories. These are among the largest Yacht Club accommodations, featuring separate bedrooms, expansive living and dining spaces, and large balconies with private whirlpools.
Additional perks available with some of these top suite categories can include a fully stocked wet bar and a private cabana on the Yacht Club sundeck.

Don’t assume every Yacht Club suite—or every Yacht Club—is the same. The accommodations and even the Yacht Club facilities themselves vary considerably between MSC ship classes. When comparing sailings, look at the specific ship and suite category rather than thinking of Yacht Club as a single, identical product across the fleet.
Why People Love Yacht Club
After experiencing it, several things stand out.

When the main pool deck is bustling, Yacht Club can still feel remarkably calm.
There’s no need to be out at dawn trying to reserve a chair. In my experience, there are plenty available throughout the day.
The same sense of ease applies to the Top Sail Lounge and Yacht Club Restaurant. You don’t have to plan your day around beating the crowds. Just come and enjoy.
Personalized Service
Crew members quickly learn your preferences and often greet you by name.
That personal attention creates a very different atmosphere from what you’ll typically experience elsewhere on a large cruise ship.
Convenience
Whether it’s avoiding long lines, having reservations handled for you, or simply being able to find a quiet place to relax, Yacht Club removes many of the little stresses that can come with cruising.
Access to Everything
Perhaps the best part is that you’re never limited to Yacht Club.

The answer ultimately depends on what you value.
The key is not to compare the price of a Yacht Club suite with a standard cabin alone. You need to compare the entire experience and consider the additional amenities and services included in the fare.

But Yacht Club isn’t automatically a good value on every sailing.
Prices can vary considerably, which is why I recommend looking at the actual price difference for your itinerary rather than deciding in advance that Yacht Club is either “too expensive” or “always worth it.”
Your particular travel situation matters, too. For example, if you’re cruising with a large group of family or friends who aren’t staying in Yacht Club, you may find that you spend less time enjoying its exclusive spaces. In that situation, the added cost may not provide as much value for that particular sailing.

One of the biggest misconceptions about Yacht Club is that it’s only for luxury travelers. I think it’s better viewed as a value question. Once you compare the cost of Yacht Club with the price of adding drinks, Wi-Fi, and other extras to another MSC experience, the difference can sometimes be much smaller than you expect.
